I started the choir progamme at Maitland Middle School.

 

In three short years, the programme grew from 0 to 300-plus students. I was determined to serve a diverse group of students and to have lots of boys in my choirs. I succeeded.

 

Today, many of these young men and women are music teachers, professional opera singers, pop singers, singer/songwriters, musicians!! Crazy.

 

Training young singers is not an easy task. To unify vowels, teach breath control, phrasing, musicianship, self- control, while playing the piano and directing is a daunting, exhausting, yet rewarding task. Together, we did it, and won many awards along the way. Reminiscing brings me tears of joy!
